Symbol Mandalas are simplified mandalas where the characteristic attributes or symbols associated with deities are used in lieu of directly depicting and painting the deities themselves. This technique is often employed to convey the essence and significance of the central deity without the need for intricate representations. Sometimes, only the symbolic attributes of the central deity are utilized, with the retinue figures represented by small coloured circles. In other instances, the presence of the retinue figures may not be indicated at all.
